Rebuilt Automatic Transmissions

A rebuilt automatic transmission is a specific in-shop process. You take your vehicle to a respected mechanic or transmission shop. The shop will strip your transmission down to its bare gaskets. They will examine the parts and set about replacing worn and faulty parts with brand new ones.

The result could be termed a Frankenfurt transmission. Yet, it is a viable and very practical solution. Moreover, you retain the good and working parts of your old transmission. This includes the core gears, alignments and other essential parts particular to your model of vehicle. You also have two other advantages. Remanufactured Automatic Transmissions

Remanufactured automatic transmissions are similar to rebuilt ones. They both have been repaired or reconstructed. The major difference between the two types can be summed up in one word location. If you want a rebuilt transmission, you talk to your local mechanic. They handle the process completely in-house. If you are looking for a remanufactured automatic transmission, you will still need to talk to a transmission specialist. Yet, the source of the remade transmission is not your mechanic. It is a factory. While your mechanic can obtain and sell remanufactured automatic transmissions, he or she does not have an active role in the remanufacturing process.
The advantages of a remanufactured transmission are many. As is the case with rebuilds, the financial cost is less than that for a new transmission. A satisfactory warranty may be included – the length will depend upon the manufacturer. What can be a major benefit are the potential upgrades. A factory may include these as part of the remanufacturing process. This will update your automatic transmission to at least close to the current year.
